Community or District Initiatives This work focuses on assisting municipalities, non-profit organizations or collaborative partnerships in evaluating opportunities for arts and culture to enhance a neighborhood or district through the creation of a cultural district, temporal projects, or mixed-use developments. This work may include research on applicable models or best-practices, research and analysis of existing arts and cultural organizations’ capacity to improve community benefit, evaluation of new initiative proposals, and evaluation of opportunities for collaboration and partnerships. This work may entail evaluation of sites for cultural amenities, including synergy with surrounding development, the community benefits and the institutional benefits. |
Community initiative consulting might also include advising on development of mixed-use projects and opportunities for arts and cultural components to be contributive and successful. This may include evaluation of site accessibility, visibility, and functionality for various types of cultural organizations.
Institutional Support
Institutional work associated with community or district initiatives involves representing the institution in considering their role within the broader context. This might include site evaluation, coordination of the institution’s project with other district initiatives, entitlement coordination, and neighborhood outreach and collaboration.
